Acceptance

By creating an account or using ventedapp.com, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States.

The Service

Vented is an anonymous venting platform operated by us. In these Terms, “Vented”, “we”, and “us” mean the operator of the Vented app and ventedapp.com. The platform allows registered users to post anonymous text content (“vents”), comment on vents, and interact with other users' content. It is provided for personal, non-commercial use only.

Age Requirements

You must be at least 18 years old to use Vented. By creating an account you confirm that you are 18 or older and that the date of birth you provided is accurate. You cannot modify your date of birth after account creation.

Accounts created before September 19, 2026 were opened under our previous minimum age of 17 and remain active under the terms they were created under. The 18-year minimum applies to every account created on or after September 19, 2026. Users under 18 whose accounts were created before that date remain restricted from age-restricted categories.

If we discover or are notified that an account was created by someone below the minimum age in effect on the date the account was created (18 for accounts created on or after September 19, 2026; 17 for accounts created before that date), we will immediately terminate the account and delete all associated data. This does not apply retroactively to existing users who met the minimum age in effect when they signed up. Providing a false date of birth to circumvent the minimum age is a violation of these Terms and may result in permanent removal from the platform.

Your Account

• You are responsible for keeping your password secure. We are not liable for unauthorised access to your account.
• You may not create accounts for the purpose of harassment, impersonation, or circumventing a ban.
• One account per person. Multiple accounts used to evade enforcement may all be removed.

Your Content

You own the content you post. By posting it on Vented, you grant Vented a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and distribute it as part of operating the service. This licence ends when you delete your content or account.

Vented is built for people's own words. Posts written by AI or copied from elsewhere aren't allowed and may be removed when reported. You agree to post only your own words. This rule is about what users post: Vented itself uses automated tools, including AI, to check content against these Terms and the Community Guidelines, as described in our Privacy Policy. We rely on reports and our own review to enforce it, and may remove content and suspend accounts that break it.

You are solely responsible for what you post. Do not post content that is illegal, defamatory, or that violates someone else's rights. Keeping your vents anonymous protects both you and the people you're venting about.

Prohibited Conduct

You may not use Vented to engage in prohibited conduct, including but not limited to the following:

• Post content that identifies, harasses, or threatens a specific private individual.
• Post hate speech, racial slurs, or content that incites violence against any group.
• Post terrorist, extremist, or illegal content of any kind.
• Post explicit sexual content or any content involving minors.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the platform or its infrastructure.
• Use automated tools to post, like, or interact with content.
• Post text written by AI (for example from ChatGPT or a similar tool) or copied and pasted from somewhere else. Vents and comments must be your own words. We don't guarantee that every post is human-written.
• Impersonate Vented or any other user.

Strictly Prohibited Content

In addition to the Prohibited Conduct above, content of the following kinds, including but not limited to the items below, is never permitted on Vented under any circumstances and will be removed immediately, with the posting account banned:

• Content depicting, promoting, or glorifying animal cruelty or torture.
• Child sexual abuse material, or any content sexualising minors.
• Content that promotes, glorifies, or threatens murder.
• Content that promotes, glorifies, or threatens rape or sexual assault.

This does not restrict vents describing your own experience of having survived violence, abuse, or assault. Sharing that experience is exactly what this platform is for. The prohibition above applies to content that promotes, glorifies, or threatens these acts, not to survivors describing what happened to them.

Zero Tolerance

Vented has a zero-tolerance policy toward objectionable content and abusive users. Content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines will be removed on discovery, and accounts responsible for abusive behaviour, including harassment, threats, hate speech, or content sexualising minors, will be permanently banned, with or without prior notice.

Vented reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to remove any post that constitutes a targeted attack on a specific individual, whether or not it otherwise violates a specific rule listed in these Terms.

You can block any user directly from their content, and report content for our team to review, at any time. See “Reporting and Enforcement” in our Community Guidelines.

Platform Immunity (Section 230)

Vented is an interactive computer service under 47 U.S.C. § 230. We are not the publisher or speaker of user-generated content and are not liable for content posted by users.

We actively moderate content that violates our guidelines and respond to valid legal requests.

Advertising

Vented may display advertisements from third-party networks including Google AdSense. Ads are only served to users who have accepted cookies. By accepting cookies you consent to the use of personalised advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your cookie preferences.

Disclaimers

Vented is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uptime, data preservation beyond reasonable efforts, or that the platform will meet your specific needs.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vented is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Vented.

Copyright and DMCA Policy

You may only post content you own or have permission to share. Do not post copyrighted images, memes, videos, or text that you do not have the right to use. We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).

Notice of infringement. If you believe content on Vented infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent at reports@ventedapp.com that includes: (1) your name, address, phone number and email; (2) a description of the copyrighted work; (3) the link to the content on Vented; (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law; (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf; and (6) your physical or electronic signature.

What we do. We remove or disable access to content that is the subject of a valid notice and tell the person who posted it.

Counter-notice. If you believe your content was removed by mistake, send a counter-notice to the same address with: your name and contact details; the content that was removed and where it appeared; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address, and to accept service of process from the person who sent the notice. We may restore the content within 10 to 14 business days unless the complainant files a court action.

Repeat infringers. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently remove accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice. You may delete your own account at any time from the account menu.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
